OUTDOOR CONCERT PERFORMANCE OF THE LAST SHIP IN NEWCASTLE CANCELLED

A unique one-off outdoor performance of The Last Ship in Newcastle that was due to be held on Bank Holiday Monday has been cancelled, it has been announced. The Last Ship has continued its voyage having this week berthed in Nottingham at the Playhouse Theatre. The reviews continue to be extremely positive as they have been in Leeds, Northampton, Birmingham, Liverpool and Newcastle. The Last Ship to play huge one-off outdoor festival show in Newcastle & Sting also performing a set...

The Last Ship, Sting’s critically-acclaimed debut musical, is to play a massive one-off outdoor show in Newcastle this summer, alongside the very river that helped inspire and shape the show. The musical, with music and lyrics by Sting, will play at Spillers Wharf, Newcastle Quayside on the banks of the Tyne on Monday 28 May 2018. The full cast will perform. Sting will also be performing a set of songs on the evening.

I don’t think I have ever felt as emotionally moved in any theatre as I was this evening during the opening night of ‘The Last Ship’ - the debut musical from former frontman of The Police; Sting, currently at the Liverpool Playhouse this week as part of its U.K. Tour. "A stupendous show" - reports the Merseysider magazine...

The Last Ship arrives in Liverpool after three very successful weeks in Newcastle, where it began its UK tour last month. It’s a musical about a North East shipbuilding town facing an uncertain future, with a score by Wallsend-born Sting, so perhaps it’s no great surprise it proved such a hit on Tyneside. But its popularity with audiences was well deserved, and if there’s any justice it will be replicated around the rest of the country, as it certainly was here in Liverpool last night. This is a stupendous show...
